Hi, I'm new to the forum and was looking for some advice. Last weekend I was on higgins lake in the shanty for 15 hours. 1:00-5:30 in the shanty friday, 7:30-1:30 saturday, 7:30-11:00 sunday. Only saw one huge pike friday, but it didn't come under the hole. It was off to the side and it must have seen me. I was in a portable and a little light comes through the cracks. Does it have to be completly dark? I don't think higgins is the best lake for spearing. I tried two different spots and three different decoys. If anyone has any tips for spearing on higgins please let me know. This is my first year spearing and I tried it for another 4 hours two weeks ago and nothing. Is lake margrethe better or are there any other lakes in the area?
thanks in advance.

One more thing. I wasn't able to get the ice chunks out by myself. I just shoved them under and to the side. Could this be why the pike didn't get close enough? How important is it to pull it up? I might have to buy those ice tongs.

As far as the ice chunk under the ice...I say why risk it take it out of the hole...I ask myself if someone planted a tree in my living room would I notice it....Just my 2 cents

Already gearing up for the season. Bought a new spear for my son on EBAY. Nice frog style with blacksmithed style barbs. Looking forward to first ice. Anyone else>>>

My bro in-law is coming to MI from WI this winter. Any good spots to visit with him in the Bay area??? This will be a convenient meeting location for us.
