Ya the lottery for sturgeon spearing is gone, and with no size limit this year should make for a quick season of 5 fish. I took my daughter up there two years ago and we had a great time. There's plenty of pike and musky in black lake as well to make for an exciting time. Good luck superbowl weekend.

For anyone that cares about the sturgeon season, here is the breakdown. Saturday(opener) blustery winds with periods of heavy snowfall had 4 lucky spearchuckers take 104,100,70 and I believe a 30 pound sturgeon. Sunday brought hope for all that remained but was shortlived. At 8:10 a.m. A youngster speared a big female wieghing in at 102 pounds on the northern side of black lake for the 5th and final fish to be taken. We didn't get to see any sturgeon but we had a great time out on the ice.
